Migos members Quavo made news recently when readers of recent Rolling Stone profile interpreted his comments toward iLoveMakonnen’s coming out as gay as potentially invalidating the Atlanta rapper’s lyrics about selling cocaine and molly. In a recent interview for Billboard’s cover story, Quavo attempted to clear up any misunderstandings and implying that he is not homophobic.
“If you real from the heart, you real from the heart,” he says. “That ain’t got nothing to do with no sex or gender. It’s 2017, and we all living.”
Still, Quavo seemed to question the genuineness of iLoveMakonnen’s lyrics.
“When [Makonnen’s] music came out, I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way…” He pauses. “I got a record with Frank Ocean [“Slide,” by Calvin Harris featuring Migos and Frank Ocean]. That closes my case.”
