Despite a report from Entertainment Tonight saying that Lady Gaga was asked by the NFL to reference politics in her Super Bowl performance, sources close to the situation are saying otherwise.
“It’s bullshit,” says an insider.
A rep for the NFL denied the reports, calling this “nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none” in a statement to ET. “The Super Bowl is a time when people really come together. Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t going to be distracted by this.”
Lady Gaga was a very prominent supporter of Hillary Clinton during last year’s presidential election and even protested outside Trump Tower in New York City following the election results.
Gaga’s Super Bowl performance is slated to not have any guest performances, according to Billboard. Speculations and rumors about Gaga’s plans have gone around, but none – including rumors of plans to cut a hole in the roof of Houston’s NRG Stadium – have been confirmed.
