Katy Perry Talks Taylor Swift Beef on ‘Carpool Karaoke’

by Malachi Weaver

“Honestly, it’s really like she started it,” Katy Perry told James Corden during “Carpool Karaoke” on The Late Late Show, “and it’s time for her to finish it.”

Perry has avoided talking about her alleged beef with former friend Taylor Swift for years, but she has now given fans the explanation they have been waiting for.

“It’s about backing dancers, it’s so crazy.”

Perry explained that it all started when three of her backup dancers went on tour with Taylor Swift. “I was like, ‘yeah, of course. I’m not on a record cycle. Get the work, she’s great and all that, but I will be on a record cycle probably in about a year.’” She says that she asked the dancers to get a 30-day contingency in their contracts so they could re-join Perry when she went back on tour, but when the time came and the dancers approached Swift’s management to return to Perry’s tour, they were fired.

When she attempted to talk to Swift about the situation, Perry says that “she wouldn’t speak to me… there was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me.”

For her part, Perry says that she is ready for “that B.S.” to be done.

After some prodding from Corden, Perry admitted that a simple text from Swift would be “absolutely, 100 percent” enough to end their beef.
