Gwen Stefani Set To Launch North American “This Is What The Truth Feels Like Tour”

Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter Gwen Stefani will return to the road this summer as she launches her This Is What the Truth Feels Like 2016 tour on July 12 in Boston, Massachusetts. Gwen’s highly anticipated tour will bring high-energy performances to dozens of cities throughout North America including Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Tampa and Vancouver this Summer as well as dates in Los Angeles and San Francisco this Fall.  A complete list of dates can be found below.  The This Is What the Truth Feels Like tour is promoted by Live Nation.

Hip hop star and actress EVE will join Stefani for all dates on the This Is What the Truth Feels Like tour.  GRAMMY Award-winning artist EVE, also an established actress known for her role in the Barbershop film series and achieved success as a fashion designer, has collaborated with Stefani on two successful hit songs – “Rich Girl” and “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” – earning a GRAMMY Award for the latter.

Gwen Stefani’s third full-length solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like,  featuring the Gold single, “Used to Love You,” was released March 18 on Interscope Records and debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

Stefani appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live on April 2 as a guest performer and she will return to NBC’s The Voice on April 19to perform her new single “Misery” during the broadcast. Stefani first appeared on the highly acclaimed show as a coach on Season 7 and returned to coach in Season 9.

Additionally, she will be honored with the Hero Award at the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA), being recognized for the positive impact she has had on fans. The RDMA, music’s biggest event for families, takes place Saturday, April 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and airs on Sunday, May 1 (7:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on Disney Channel.

Earlier this year, the superstar made history on the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast by performing the first music video ever created on live television. Multi-Platinum Award-Winning Lady Antebellum To Sing The National Anthem At The Kentucky Derby

Churchill Downs Racetrack today announced that the seven-time Grammy Award- winning trio Lady Antebellum will sing the national anthem at the 142nd Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands onSaturday, May 7.

Kicking off the summer season of their 2016 Summer Tour, the country superstars will come together to perform, “The Star-Spangled Banner” live to the more than 170,000 fans who attend the Kentucky Derby. The performance will take place in the Kentucky Derby Winner’s Circle just after 5:00 PM EDT, immediately prior to the historic race, and be broadcast live as part of NBC’s telecast of the Kentucky Derby.

“Each year we work to honor the Kentucky Derby’s rich traditions and celebrate the best of American culture,” said Kevin Flanery, President of Churchill Downs Racetrack. “As an internationally-recognized musical group, Lady Antebellum is the perfect fit to uphold the Derby’s traditions and we are thrilled for them to perform our national anthem for the millions of Derby viewers and fans around the world.”

Lady Antebellum is the eighth artist to perform the national anthem since Churchill Downs began the tradition in 2009.  Notable artists who have performed the national anthem are Josh Groban (2015), Jo Dee Messina (2014), Martina McBride (2013), Mary J. Blige (2012), Jordin Sparks (2011), Rascal Flatts (2010) and Lee Ann Rimes (2009).

As the oldest continuously held sporting event in North America, the Kentucky Derby extends beyond the historic race. Its iconic food, fashion and cocktails make it a worldwide celebration. The Kentucky Derby traditions are incorporated throughout the event, from the carefully curated menu and classic mint julep to the performance of the national anthem by major artists.

Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John Partner with Macy’s to Help Make the World a Kinder Place with New Limited-Edition Line: Love Bravery

Macy’s has partnered with Grammy® and Golden Globe®-winning icon Lady Gaga, as well as Grammy, Tony® and Academy Award®-winning legend Sir Elton John to create Love Bravery, a high-spirited, limited-edition line of clothing and accessories that inspire compassion and combat prejudice. H&M Releases World Recycle Week 2016 Campaign Song and Video ‘Rewear It’ Featuring Artist M.I.A.

M.I.A. is the star of H&M’s global initiative, World Recycle Week, featuring a video inspiring customers to recycle their unwanted clothes. With her personal style, interest for sustainability and passion for the environment, M.I.A. personifies the conscious consumer with a social awareness.

 

Since the launch of the Garment Collecting initiative in 2013, H&M’s goal has been to close the loop in fashion, recycling unwanted garments to create reusable textile fibers for new products. During the campaign period, April 18-24, H&M aims to collect 1,000 tons of unwanted or worn out garments from customers worldwide in its more than 3,600 stores. U.S. customers who participate in recycling will receive a 30% off coupon during the World Recycle Week period.

To raise awareness M.I.A. wrote the song ‘Rewear it’ exclusively for H&M and the World Recycle Week campaign. H&M has worked closely with choreographer Aaron Sillis to interpret M.I.A.’s music and lyrics into dance moves for the campaign’s video.

“World Recycle Week is about embracing important environmental issues such as the landfills, and highlighting a global movement.” says M.I.A.

The video features M.I.A. together with an eclectic cast of influencers and inspirational people from all over the world, including actress Yao Chen and model, Moffy. Also included is a range of talent from music artists, dancers, comedians and people with a passion for environmental and social sustainability issues, all with a strong personal style and attitude. The video uses dance as the connection between a diverse community of people to highlight the importance of garment collecting and recycling. The full campaign video will be featured at hm.com on April 11, 2016.

Three Latin Artists Jump Into Snapchat For A Music Experience Out Of Their Comfort Zone

Mexican regional, urban hip-hop and pop music will converge today in the Snapchat world under the umbrella of the Toyota #AceptaElReto challenge, inviting the artists as well as guests to create new stories and get out of their comfort zone.  Toyota is partnering with Mexican Regional artist, El Dasa, Colombian hip-hop band member, Goyo (member of Chocquibtown) and pop singer and songwriter, Natalia Lafourcade to produce a one of a kind Snapchat experience that will go live on the popular social media app.

The creative engagement is part of Toyota’s RAV4 Hybrid marketing campaign that encourages people to get out of their comfort zones. The concept created by Conill – Toyota’s Hispanic marketing partner – centers on a unique idea: what would happen if you put a Mexican regional artist in the musical world of a pop singer and how would a hip-hop singer do in a Mexican regional musical world. Toyota invited these artists to venture out of their musical comfort zones to find out.

Through the story, fans will witness each artist interacting with their newfound musical world, creating new experiences and stories that they can share with their fans on other social media channels, unified by the hashtag #AceptaElReto.

“Toyota is all about innovation and engaging with guests through technology and music,” said Florence Drakton, social media marketing manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.  “We know how important social media channels are, whether for listening to or sharing music, so using Snapchat makes total sense.  Together, these three artists will create an immersive experience that we hope fans will enjoy.”

The RAV4 Hybrid campaign launched at the beginning of 2016 centered on the theme of “same old story.”   The creative elements aimed to spur people on to create original and exciting new stories with the RAV4 Hybrid as their enabler.

Troy Carter’s Atom Factory Set to Welcome Second Cohort to Smashd Labs in Fall 2016 for Startups That Can Influence Culture

Atom Factory CEO Troy Carter announced plans to host a second season of Smashd Labs from September 6 to November 18. For the inaugural class, there were over 200 applicants in two weeks, six startups in the inaugural cohort, 30 mentors, founders as young as 19 years old, and over $2M raised from investments within six months of the lab’s concluding Demo Day.

“We’re proud of the success the participating startups have had to date, and look forward to growing the Smashd Labs family by adding an additional set of startups led by talented founders with platforms and tech that can disrupt entertainment and culture,” stated Atom Factory CEO Troy Carter, who most recently served as a guest shark on the latest season of ABC’s hit prime-time show Shark Tank.

During the inaugural lab, Atom Factory curated a group of A-list mentors from entertainment, successful startups, and academia including Columbia University and Harvard University. Mentors from the inaugural lab included: Russell Simmons (Founder, All Def Digital), Sophia Amoruso (Founder, Nasty Gal), Brian Lee (Founder/CEO, The Honest Company), Brian Robbins (Founder/CEO, Awesomeness TV), Judy Smith (Executive Producer, Scandal), and Neil Blumenthal & Dave Gilboa (Founders, Warby Parker). Mentors for the 2016 lab are forthcoming.

Participating companies in the inaugural class included:

  • Sidestep: Mobile platform for live events that allows fans to order merchandise before, during and after an event for VIP pickup and delivery
  • Enrou: Socially conscious marketplace where shoppers discover goods from all around the globe and support the people who made them through their purchases.
  • WeTransfer: File-sharing made easy and enjoyable
  • THRONE: Peer-to-peer marketplace and ecosystem marrying original content and convenient commerce on mobile for the $85B sneaker and streetwear industry
  • Trakfire: Platform that enables the community of music enthusiasts to curate the best music from emerging artists, daily, in the form of a leaderboard.
