A West Virginia teenager has written an artificial intelligence program that creates its own raps from Kanye West lyrics, Quartz reports. 17-year-old Robbie Barrat took on the challenge after a discussion with friends in a high school programming club over whether or not robots could do human tasks better than humans. Within a week, Barrat combined open-source code with 6,000 lines of Kanye West lyrics to produce the AI.
“Originally it just rearranged existing rap lyrics, but now it can actually write word-by-word,” Barrat told Quartz. The bot also added its own pauses for rhythm and effect.
