Katy Perry’s “Chained to the Rhythm” (featuring Skip Marley) debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 4 on the chart dated March 4, thus making Skip Marley the first of any member of the Marley family to score a Hot 100 Top Ten.

The grandson of the late Bob Marley, Skip Marley is currently dominating charts with “Chained”, which also debuted at No. 3 on the Digital Song Sales chart, No. 15 on Streaming Songs, and No. 20 on Radio Songs.

Bob Marley only charted the Hot 100 list once, when “Roots, Rock, Reggae,” with the Wailers, peaked at No. 51. Marley performed much better on other charts – he had 18 No. 1s on the Reggae Albums list, the current record. His posthumous Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified 15-times Platinum by the RIAA.

Bob’s son Ziggy hit top 40 on the Hot 100 once in 1988, when “Tomorrow People,” with the Melody Makers, reached No. 39. The group also charted in 1991 with “Good Times” reaching No. 85.

Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Bob’s youngest son, has also charted on the Hot 100, when “Welcome to Jamrock” reached No. 55 in 2005.
