Joey Bada$$ Freestyles Over Future’s ‘Mask Off’: Watch

by Malachi Weaver

Joey Bada$$ took to the L.A. Leakers last week to promote his upcoming album, All-AmeriKKKan Bada$$ (due April 7), and also freestyled over Future’s “Mask Off.”

Bada$$ rapped over the Metro Boomin-produced beat, changing the titular hook to “blast off” –referencing how he feels about his upcoming album. “That’s in like three weeks, man. I’m ‘bout to blast off with them.”

The Brooklyn rapper has been promoting his second album a lot recently, releasing a music video for his “Land of the Free” two weeks ago and talking to Pharrell and Scott Vener on the OTHERtone radio show on Beats 1 about the album’s creative process.

“As a young musician, I really feel responsible to speak for the young people who I can speak for,” Bada$$ said. “Before, I was rapping to beats. This album, I really learned how to make music. I brought this musician in and this musician in. I brought them together and orchestrated the whole thing, the whole sound, the whole flow, and the whole vibe.”

Listen to the freestyle or watch “Land of the Free” below. All-AmeriKKKan Bada$$ will be released April 7.
