DJ Khaled held a press conference yesterday (Feb. 9) featuring Puff Daddy and Chance the Rapper, live streaming the entire event on his Instagram account. With Chance still on the stage, Khaled gave his audience the first peaks into his upcoming album. The title, he announced, will be Grateful. Khaled’s infant son Asad will be the album’s executive producer, and the album will come out later this year.
When asked about potential features for the album, Chance the Rapper quickly changed the subject – although Khaled has hinted to a potential collaboration with Chance on Instagram.
DJ Khaled’s most recent album, Major Key, was released in 2016 and peaked at No.1 on the Billboard 200. Major Key is nominated for Best Rap Album at Sunday’s Grammys.
News also hit today that Khaled is being sued for one of the singles off the album, “I Got the Keys.” Producer Chris Hill is alleging that he gave Khaled the beat to “I Got the Keys” in October 2008 in an Atlanta nightclub. Hill is suing Khaled, Sony Music, and the track’s other producers for a cut of the profits.
