Chris Brown and Soulja Boy have started what will go down as the first major celebrity beef of 2017.
It all started with Soulja Boy allegedly liking a photo on Instagram posted by Karrueche Tran, Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend. According to Soulja Boy, Chris Brown called the “Crank Dat” rapper and angrily challenged him to a fight.
“Chris Brown just called me and said he wanna fight me because I liked @karrueche picture on Instagram this n**** a b****,” Soulja Boy tweeted Monday evening.
Chris Brown then responded in a series of Instagram posts, claiming that he never called the rapper. Brown called the Soulja Boy’s actions “imaginary beef,” then asserted that his two-year-old daughter “HAS 5 times more money than SOULA boy already” and asked professional boxer Adrien Broner to set up a ring for the two musicians to fight.
Soulja Boy responded to Brown with more tweets, this time referencing Brown’s 2009 abuse of Rihanna and accusing him of drug use.
In an attempt to diffuse the situation, model and actress Karrueche Tran commented on one of the posts. “First off this drama between the both of these two is so ridiculous it makes no sense.” Tran urges the musicians to “Leave the extra’d out, rah rah sh*t behind.”
Brown, however, did not take too kindly to Tran’s comments and left her a scathing response. “NOONE ASKED FOR THIS OPINION!!!” Brown began. “IT AINT OVER YOU!!”
Brown continued to post Instagram videos addressed towards Soulja Boy and even posted a picture allegedly sharing his phone number.
Soulja Boy has now attempted to reconcile the disagreement and diffuse his tensions with other rappers, specifically naming Brown, Quavo, and Lil Yatchy. Soulja Boy explained in a Twitter video that his mother is in the hospital, and although the doctor says she should be alright, he does not feel that she would be proud of his actions.
