A$AP Rocky Honors His Code with Ambition, Growth and Cognac

by Malachi Weaver June 22, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Born on the streets of Paris, Courvoisier® lives by a code-one of dedication, vision and respect for tradition, cultivated over 200 years of history as France’s premium producer of Cognac. Courvoisier has the conviction to craft only the finest Cognac by honoring a visionary code of controlling the entire cognac production process from grape to glass. The way the brand has chosen to live and evolve has shaped its newest campaign – Honor Your Code.

(PRNewsfoto/Courvoisier)

These values have forged a partnership between Courvoisier and rapper, actor, model and fashion icon, A$AP Rocky, who joins the family as Brand Ambassador starring in print and digital creative, partnering on collaborations and hosting exclusive experiences as part of its new campaign.

Before he became known as A$AP Rocky, Rakim Mayers cultivated his code growing up in New York by committing to being ambitious, inspiring and enticing. His vision was always to recognize growth and to be better than he was yesterday. With his promise to always strive, always prosper and to persevere through any struggle, A$AP Rocky honors his code to this day with his drive and ambition.

“I think your code is equivalent to your standards and your morals. It’s whatever you believe in. And you should always stand by and honor what you believe in,” says A$AP Rocky. “Courvoisier’s commitment to quality, old-school production methods, design and art speaks to me.”

(PRNewsfoto/Courvoisier)

Like A$AP Rocky, Courvoisier is focused on making-not just making it. Founders Louis Gallois and Emmanuel Courvoisier set out to make a superior Cognac in the 18th century, not to become the toast of Paris society and the imperial court. But by focusing on creating, that’s what happened. The house eventually established residence in a chateau on the scenic banks of the Charente River in the town of Jarnac, just east of the town of Cognac, where Courvoisier’s grape to glass code is followed to this day.

“As a creator, A$AP Rocky embodies the progressive ideals and bold artistry on which Courvoisier was founded, making him an ideal partner for the brand,” says Gary Ross, Vice President, Beam Suntory World Spirits.

Through the partnership with A$AP Rocky and an inspiring campaign, Courvoisier demonstrates the real-life applications for honoring your code. A legacy it validates every day. A legacy of excellence crystallized in a bottle.

New From Macklemore and Skylar Grey: ‘Glorious’

by Malachi Weaver June 15, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Macklemore just dropped a new song, “Glorious,” which will appear on his upcoming new album. This new album will be his first solo album in 12 years.

“Glorious” features guest vocals from Skylar Grey and was produced by Josh “Budo” Karp and Tyler Dopps. Rolling Stone calls the song “energizing” and “an ode to fresh starts and embracing life.” Macklemore mixes bars of positivity throughout the song: “I’m feeling glorious/ The crib looking Victorian/ You know that we been going in/ Since we hopped out that Delorean.”

Macklemore has recently released two other solo tracks, “Wednesday Morning” and “Drug Dealer.” It isn’t clear yet if these songs will be on the upcoming and currently untitled album.

The new album will be Macklemore’s first new album since his 2005 The Language of My World. Other than his 2009 mixtape The Unplanned Mixtape, both of Macklemore’s two recent albums have been collaborations with producer Ryan Lewis. In 2012 they released The Heist together and followed it in 2016 with This Unruly Mess I’ve Made.

Jaden Smith Is The Caped Crusader In New ‘Batman’ Video

by Malachi Weaver June 15, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Jaden Smith put on his Batsuit for his new video “Batman,” in which he plays a young Bruce Wayne. Unlike the comics, the suit Smith wears in this video is all white – similar to what he wore at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 2015 wedding.

“Batman” was directed by Moises Arias, who some might recognize as Rico on Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana. The video begins with Smith as Bruce Wayne, facing accusations from the press that he may be Batman. We later see Smith as Batman, fighting other costumed superheroes and walking throughout town.

Watch the “Batman” video below.

$2000 ‘Jeopardy’ Question About Frank Ocean Goes Unanswered

by Malachi Weaver June 15, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Frank Ocean returned to the Jeopardy! board Monday (June 12) night when a clue referenced his 2012 debut album Channel Orange. The question was worth $2000.

“On this song from Channel Orange, Frank Ocean sings to a cab driver of his unrequited love for a man.”

— Foster Kamer (@weareyourfek) June 13, 2017

Fans of Frank Ocean may recognize that the correct answer would have been “What is ‘Bad Religion’?” None of the contestants were able to answer correctly.

Ocean has been featured on Jeopardy! twice before. A previous clue once stated “He’s the 2013 Grammy-winning singer heard here,” then the song “Thinking of You” from Ocean’s Channel Orange played.

Another Ocean inspired clue was shown on the show earlier this year: “The visual album ‘Endless’ & the album ‘Blonde’ were this singer/rapper’s follow-up to ‘Channel Orange’.”
