Garth Brooks’ ‘The Ultimate Collection’ Makes 18th Top 10 Album

With his The Ultimate Collection jumping from 13 to 6 on the Billboard 200, Garth Brooks has just landed his 18th top 10 album. This is its second week on the chart (dated January 7).

This 18th top 10 breaks Brooks’ tie with Tim McGraw (17) for the country artist with the second most top 10s. George Strait is in the lead with 20.

Brooks’ The Ultimate Collection also leads Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart at No. 1 for the second week in a row. This is his 16th time taking No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.

The ten disc set was originally released as a Target exclusive on November 11 but was not eligible for Billboard’s charts for its first four weeks. As per Billboard policy, the album fell below the minimum price to be charted – $3.49 for a single disc, or $3.49 times the amount of discs in a multi-disc box set, in a title’s first four weeks of release. The album was priced at $29.99.

Shania Twain Announces Comeback Album for 2017

Shania Twain has not released a new album since her 2002 Up!, but that’s all about to change. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Twain confirmed that she has finished recording her currently untitled work. “I’m so overdue!” says the 51-year-old artist. “I feel like I just need to keep making albums now.”

Twain told EW that before she actually started work in a studio she’d spent years recording melodies and lyrics on various recording devices. “There’s, like, five of them. I’m forever backing things up. So if it’s a rainy day or I’m bored, I’ll go through my electronics and listen to things. They’ll have titles like ‘Fun beat’ or ‘Fab memory.’”

Twain says she would also create demos at home with Pro Tools and GarageBand. “It’s really fun to experiment with arrangements,” she says. “I did so many of my backing vocal arrangements—just being able to have all these multitracks and moving them around and experimenting that way. By the time I got into the studio, I was already quite familiar with what I wanted to do.”

The album, as she describes it, will be “kind of schizophrenic musically.” Twain says it is to include “painful and melancholy ballads that evolved into completely upbeat songs” and “triumphant” girl-power rockers. “I felt like I had climbed a huge mountain and was standing on top of it, looking God in the eye, and saying, ‘I’m here! What do I gotta do next?’”

Country Music Superstar Jason Aldean Joins Field & Stream As New Brand Ambassador

Field & Stream, an outdoor specialty brand owned and operated by leading omni-channel retailer DICK’S Sporting Goods, announced today RIAA’s top digital country male artist of all time and outdoor enthusiast Jason Aldean as the new face of the Field & Stream brand.

Field & Stream products and stores are named for the iconic brand that has been synonymous with outdoor traditions for more than 140 years. Products are sold exclusively at more than 645 DICK’S Sporting Goods and more than 20 Field & Stream stores across the country, and on both retailers’ respective eCommerce sites.

“Outdoor sports and activities have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember,” said Aldean. “Whether it was hunting with my dad and granddad, or fishing with my girls, it’s always been a way for us to spend time together. So, I naturally am into what Field & Stream is all about, and am looking forward to being part of their team.”

Leading the marketing efforts is a new TV ad campaign featuring stories of some of Aldean’s own outdoor traditions with his father, Barry. The new TV spot will air beginning on August 22 on ABC, ESPN the Outdoor Channel, Nat Geo, Discovery, History and more.

Multi-Platinum Award-Winning Lady Antebellum To Sing The National Anthem At The Kentucky Derby

Churchill Downs Racetrack today announced that the seven-time Grammy Award- winning trio Lady Antebellum will sing the national anthem at the 142nd Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands onSaturday, May 7.

Kicking off the summer season of their 2016 Summer Tour, the country superstars will come together to perform, “The Star-Spangled Banner” live to the more than 170,000 fans who attend the Kentucky Derby. The performance will take place in the Kentucky Derby Winner’s Circle just after 5:00 PM EDT, immediately prior to the historic race, and be broadcast live as part of NBC’s telecast of the Kentucky Derby.

“Each year we work to honor the Kentucky Derby’s rich traditions and celebrate the best of American culture,” said Kevin Flanery, President of Churchill Downs Racetrack. “As an internationally-recognized musical group, Lady Antebellum is the perfect fit to uphold the Derby’s traditions and we are thrilled for them to perform our national anthem for the millions of Derby viewers and fans around the world.”

Lady Antebellum is the eighth artist to perform the national anthem since Churchill Downs began the tradition in 2009.  Notable artists who have performed the national anthem are Josh Groban (2015), Jo Dee Messina (2014), Martina McBride (2013), Mary J. Blige (2012), Jordin Sparks (2011), Rascal Flatts (2010) and Lee Ann Rimes (2009).

As the oldest continuously held sporting event in North America, the Kentucky Derby extends beyond the historic race. Its iconic food, fashion and cocktails make it a worldwide celebration. The Kentucky Derby traditions are incorporated throughout the event, from the carefully curated menu and classic mint julep to the performance of the national anthem by major artists.
