Major Lazer ‘Know No Better’ Music Video: Watch

by Malachi Weaver July 11, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Major Lazer inspires in their new “Know No Better” music video.

The Philip Andelman directed clip flashes between a young boy’s reality and fantasy life – which includes dancing in studios and kissing his dream girl. The fantasy world includes cameos from Camila Cabello and Travis Scott, who feature on the song. Diplo also appears towards the end of the video, when the boy’s reality and fantasy finally meet.

Andelman said in a statement that the fantasy resembled one of his own younger self:

“I used to space out all through high school about being the sickest guitarist in the world to impress girls, but all I could play in real life was a quarter-speed version of Slash’s solo from ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine.’ I thought it could be fun to do a video that married a kid’s daydream of being a Major Lazer backup dancer (i.e. the ultimate goal for any dancer out there) with the reality of quotidian ass-kickings and unbearable siblings.

“Know No Better” comes from Major Lazer’s EP of the same name, which came out last month. Check out the video below.

Rolling Stone Will Pay $1.65M Settlement In Fraternity Defamation Lawsuit

by Malachi Weaver June 14, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Rolling Stone magazine settled a defamation lawsuit filed by a University of Virginia fraternity for $1.65 million, the fraternity said Tuesday (June 13).

A 2014 story “A Rape on Campus,” published by the magazine, sparked the entire controversy. The story was later retracted after a police investigation found no evidence to back up the story, provided by a woman only identified as “Jackie.”

The Virginia Alpha Chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity originally asked for $25 million, but said in a statement that they are “pleased” to finished with this “ordeal.”

“It has been nearly three years since we, and the entire University of Virginia community, were shocked by the now infamous article, and we are pleased to be able to close the book on that trying ordeal and its aftermath,” the fraternity said.

The story, written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely of Philadelphia, prompted a police investigation after it alleged that the anonymous “Jackie” was raped by members of the fraternity. After other news outlets began to probe and the police found no evidence the story was officially retracted.

“Rolling Stone and Erdely had an agenda, and they were recklessly oblivious to the harm they would cause innocent victims in their ruthless pursuit of that agenda,” the fraternity’s lawsuit said.

The case was scheduled to go to trial in October.

Watch Victoria’s Secret Models Lip Sync David Guetta and Justin Bieber’s New Song ‘2U’

by Malachi Weaver June 9, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

David Guetta and Justin Bieber released their new song “2U” today and along with it came a music video featuring Victoria’s Secret models lip-syncing to the track.

The video stars models Ella Hosk, Jasmine Tookers, Sara Sampaio, Romee Strijd, Stella Maxwell, and Marth Hunt – all of whom Bieber mentioned in a tweet earlier this week without giving any explanation – in what appears to be behind the scenes of a Victoria’s Secret photo shoot.

Guetta spoke to MTV UK about “2U”, calling it “a very romantic love song.” “What I’m trying to do here is a combination of emotional parts and the energy of crazy electronic dance beats. That’s what I do, and that’s what I like. I like making the people dance, but with a tear in their eyes.”

He also added that he would like to have a second music video without the Victoria’s Secret girls. “It’s amazing to have the Victoria’s Secrets girls, but I also wanted something that’s not branded, you know? But this is amazing; I’m very flattered that they’re doing this.”

Watch the “2U” video below.

Diplo Re-Releases ‘Bankroll’, This Time Without Justin Bieber

by Malachi Weaver June 7, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

After temporarily being taken down, Diplo’s “Bankroll” has been re-uploaded to Soundcloud. While the song currently contains vocals from Young Thug, Rich Chigga, and Rich The Kid, the original Justin Bieber vocals have been removed.

The original version with Justin Bieber was posted by Diplo back in May, but record labels, he explained, made him take it down.

“Other artists made Soundcloud take down the Justin Beiber [sic] version because they had exclusives with him, you can find it online here tho cause ¯\_(ツ)_/¯,” Diplo wrote in the song description.

Click the link for a free download of the Justin Bieber version, or listen to the official Soundcloud release below.
