by Malachi Weaver June 13, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

Back in 2016, Yoko Ono began a project with the Secretly Canadian label to reissue her entire musical catalog. The project began with the three LPs, 1968’s Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins, 1969’s Unfinished Music No. 2: Life With Lions and 1970’s Plastic Ono Band. In July, Ono will continue the project, re-releasing three more LPs: 1971’s Fly, as well as Approximately Infinite Universe and Feeling The Space, both from 1973.

All three reissues will be out July 14th but can be pre-ordered now here. Each album reconstructs the original vinyl packaging alongside remastered audio. The reissuing will also be the first times this music by Ono will be available as a digital download.

Eleven total Ono albums are planned to be reissued. Along with the six already mentioned, reissues are also planned for A Story (recorded in 1974, released as part of Ono Box in 1992), Season of Glass (1981), It’s Alright (I See Rainbows) (1982), Starpeace (1985), and Unfinished Music No. 3: Wedding Album (1969).

Thundercat Performs With Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins on ‘Fallon’: Watch

by Malachi Weaver June 6, 2017
written by Malachi Weaver

In this clip from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Thundercat can be seen performing “Show You The Way” from his most recent album, Drunk. The song features Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins, both of whom joined Thundercat on stage.

Thundercat recently talked with Red Bull about how the original collaboration came together. After first reaching out to Loggins, Thundercat recalled that “the first question he asked me was, ‘Are you joking?’ It was a weird moment. He was like, ‘Are you serious about working with me?’ I was like, ‘Absolutely.’ He opened up to it and he listened to the music.

“He listened to the music and he calls me back and he goes, ‘I’m listening to your music, man. You sound very jazz influenced. Are you into Mahavishnu Orchestra?’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He literally goes, ‘OK, I’m going to call Michael McDonald because I think that this would be a good chance to get him involved, because he’s also that kind of person.’” Read the full interview here.

QUESTION: FINALLY, DID YOU KNOW THERE’S A NEW TOP-SECRET NINE INCH NAILS EP THAT WILL BE RELEASED BEFORE THE FIRST SHOWS WE DO THIS SUMMER?
